Instructions on obtaining a duplicate Minnesota (MN) title

Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in Minnesota

The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:

1. Download and fill out the Minnesota Duplicate Title Application.

2. You can do one of the following options:

Bring the application to the Deputy Registrar Office.

Time frame to get the title: 7-10 business days or 3 days for FastTrack
Cost to obtain: $18.25 or $38.25 for FastTrack

Mail the application to the Department of Public Safety.

Cost to obtain: $18.25


Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of Minnesota


The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
