Instructions on obtaining a duplicate Kansas (KS) title

Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in Kansas

The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:

1. Download and fill out the Kansas Duplicate Title Application

2. You can do one of the following options:


Bring the application to the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Time frame to get the title: 7-10 business days
Cost to obtain: $10

Mail the application to the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Time frame to get the title: 3-4 weeks
Cost to obtain: $10


Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of Kansas


The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
