Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in Illinois

 The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:
​
 1. Fill out the Illinois Duplicate Title Application.  You may obtain title and registration applications online, by visiting the nearest Secretary of State facility, or by calling (800) 252-8980. 

2. You can do one of the following options: 

Bring the application to the Secretary of State Facility.

Time frame to get the title: 4-6 weeks
Cost to obtain: $50

Mail the application to the Secretary of State Facility.

​Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of Illinois
​
​
The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
