What's the difference between "title" and "registration"?

A title is a document that proves legal ownership of a vehicle.

​Registration proves that registration fees have been paid and the vehicle has passed any required inspections.

While you usually have to show proof of ownership in order to register your vehicle, your registration and your title are not the same.
