Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in Maine

The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:

1. Download and fill out the Maine Duplicate Title Application.

2. You can do one of the following options:
​
Bring the application to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
​ 
Time frame to get the title: 6-8 weeks
Cost to obtain: $33
​Rush title service is available for an additional $10
​
Mail the application to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Time frame to get the title: 10 days
Cost to obtain: $33
​Rush title service is available for an additional $10
​
​Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of Maine
​
The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
