Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in South Dakota

 The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps: 

1. Download and fill out the South Dakota Duplicate Title Application. 

2. You can do one of the following options:

Bring the application to your County Treasurer's Office.

Time frame to get the title: 5-10 business days
Cost to obtain: $10

​
Mail the application to the Motor Vehicle Division.

Cost to obtain: $10

​Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of South Dakota
​
The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
